Join Paula Koerner and learn how to knit this charming Fair Isle Hat and Mittens set.  Learn to use two colors to create a Fair Isle design.

Prerequisite skills:  In order for you to feel comfortable in this class, students should know how to knit, purl, cast on and cast off, knit in the round

Materials Needed: Pattern on Ravelry Edith the Hat ($5) and Elise Mittens ($5) by Johanne Landin, yarn, needles size 0 & 1.5 double points and 16” circular, stitch markers, tapestry needle.

Yarn Recommended:  Fingering weight sock yarn.  Wildfoote Luxury Sock Yarn, 3 skeins of 2 contrasting colors.

Class Outcomes:  Knit in the round, Fair Isle technique, chart reading. 

Homework:  Ahead of 1st class:  Cast on 160 stitches using the smaller needle and join in a circle, being careful not to twist the stitches. Start knitting the facing using the pattern color (white in the picture). Knit 20 rows, then make the picot edge as follows. On the next round yarn over, knit 2 together, repeat until the end of the round, then stop.
